Thank you for sharing your family story, which gives us all the hope and inspiration to continue our work on behalf of all Kresy-Siberia group members and their families - past, present and future.
We have also set up a new Contribution Page to make it easier for members to make their subscriptions and donations:
Together, we are a special community of people, bound together by our shared experiences, interests and values. While we have done well attracting grants in the past to start developing our ambitious and educational "Kresy-Siberia Virtual Museum" website, we do need to look to ourselves as group members first to support our basic mission: to research, remember and recognize the brave people of Poland's Kresy borderlands, the deportees and the exiles fighting for freedom and survival in World War 2.
To do this we absolutely need member contributions
of the 4-Ts : Time
(helping other members), Talent
(applying our skills), Testaments
(sharing photos and stories), and yes, Treasure
(donating our money to cover group expenses). However, let emphasise again that the requests for annual subscriptions and donations to help keep this group going are purely voluntary.
Many members have responded positively to our appeal for support in the sprit that you have expressed, Barbara, donating
either at the suggested "friends" support level ($40 or GBP 25 or 120 PLN per year) or at higher amounts if they were able to do so. To these generous members (and some were very generous indeed), I say THANK YOU
personally and on behalf of all group members and their families - past, present and future.
However, some other members reported being "put off" by the request for contributions to the group or made to feel bad about not donating, perhaps even causing them to go silent or think about withdrawing. To these concerned members, I say please do not go and please STAY INVOLVED, as your presence and participation, perhaps contributing in other ways, enriches the community and is of great value to us all.
Finally, the largest number of group members are somewhere in the middle - they have not contributed financially yet this year but have not rejected the idea of doing so. To these members I say please ACT NOW
and do not put it off a moment longer - visit our new user-friendly Contribution Page
to offer your Time, Talent, Testaments and Treasure. Any gift, no matter how seemingly modest, is deeply appreciated and each will help the group to continue our special mission into the future.
If anyone has any questions, comments, concerns or suggestions about the group and its work, please do not hold back -contact me personally at stefan.wisniowski@...
. Whether active or quiet, rich or poor, every member of this group has a special, personal reason for being here - and you are valued for the important role you can play in helping us all go forward together.
Thanking you in advance,
Group Founder and President, Kresy-Siberia Foundation

Hello - I just wanted to say that I would be more than willing to set up a payment of £5 monthly for my contribution to the Kresy Group. If someone would let me know how and when then I will set it up. I am eternally grateful to this group. When I first joined, I had little information and no idea on how to even begin any research.
I was, at that time, wanting to start to find out more about, what I had believed, was the slaughter of my entire family in Wolynia. So many people offered their help, expertise and experiences. I found out more about the UPD and what had happene there and grieved for my family, but at last I believed I had, at least, an idea of what had happened to them. Someone on this site then alerted me to a site where I could post on the name of my family's village and post their names. I did this, thinking, perhaps,I could find out if there was a mass grave for that village which I could then visit.
As some of you will be aware - 2 years after posting on that site a family member contacted me!! They had not been slaughtered but had been sent to Germany as slave labour. They had then been repatriated to Poland where they had continued to live long and happy lives. My Dad had searched and the Red Cross had searched but they were never found. 69 years after my Dad was taken from home by the Russians, my family and I found each other. That was purely down to this group. How can a thank you be enough? How can any contribution of money be enough? You all helped to give me back my family and also make me feel, for the first time ever, like a whole person with 2 sides to my family.
I will be flying to Poland in August and will be meeting the many members of this, now, very large family. It is very sad that my Dad lived his whole life without his family and never knew that they had survived and flourished. But, they are there for me and for my son and for following generations. We will be united again after a lifetime of not knowing. Thank you to each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart. To all of you who are still searching - never give up hope. You don't know if, like me, you will be sitting at your laptop one rainy morning and suddenly see in your inbox a message from someone who has your name and like me think oh, someone has the same name as me and then open the message and find................................. family!!!
Love and warmest wishes to you all.
