I am trying to get some information about my mother, Anna Frajlich, and her brother, Shaul Frajlich. They were from Lodz and ended up in Leninogorsk. Shaul died after a "stint" in a gulag, and my mother eventually came back to Lodz before finally settling in Toronto.
I have a few questions:
- Is it possible that my mother actually ever obtained a Soviet passport during her time in the USSR, and if so, how would I find out?
- If she didn’t, what migh her status have been after the end of 1940?
- Is there a way to get some records of Shaul Frajlich's arrest, or information about his death/burial? My mother recalls that he was buried behind the hospital where he died (in Leninogorsk) in what my mother recalled as being a potter's field.
Any info would be greatly appreciated! Please reply to me at lynda@...
