Please welcome Mark Czerkawski to the group.
Mark, have you already tried the 'KARTA index of the repressed' in Poland?
Please check out the research sources at
My name is Mark Czerkawski. I reside in a small town just outside London,
Ontario, Canada. I became aware of this group at a recent screening of
"Forgotten Odyssey" in London, Ontario that I attended with my family. My
parents were born in Poland and like all Poles alive in 1939, they suffered
horribly. My mother is from L'wow. Her surname was Popiel. Her father was
Stanislaw Popiel, a prominient lawyer in L'wow before 1939. He was arrested
in 1940 and has never been heard from and was presumably murdered by the
Russians. My mother was deported with her family to Kazakhstan on April 13,
1940. She was one of the many rescued by General Anders. To me he is the
greatest hero of the Second World War. I am desperate to find out what
happened to my grandfather and where his final reamins rest.
