Welcome Katarzyna and the best of luck with your planned documentary. My mother Maria Starzak (with her brother Jozef) was also in the orphanage in Tengeru and I have some photos in my photo gallery which your grandmother might recognise. I cannot wait to see your photo collection and the lady in charge of the gallery is Elzunia Olsson.

      Hello,

My name is Katarzyna Wartak. I'm 30 years old and was born in Poland
but currently live in the United States.
My Grandparents - Maria and Bronislaw Zoldak and their daughter Danuta
and son Edmund were deported from Kresy in 1939 to a labor camp in
Siberia. After the amnesty they went through Persia - my Granfather to
England to the General Anders' army and my Grandmother with her daugher
to Africa (Tengeru), unfortuantely my Uncle died on the way from
      Siberia.
My granparents are still around - both 95 years old and livng in
      Poland, as is my aunt.
During my last Christmas in Poland my granfather who's retained
incredible memory has told me the story of their deportation to Siberia.
I would like to learn more about their experience and prepare a family
      document about their "odyssey".
I would also like to share about 70 photographs - most from Tengeru.
A lot of them of groups of children with their teachers/ caretakers (
my Grandmother worked as a teacher in the orphanage).
I currently have high resolution photos scanned in. I would appreciate
any tips on touching them up, decreasing their size and making
      available for web posting.
Thank you for maintaining this group as it appears to be a wonderful
resource to preserve the memory of our ancestors' plight.
