Can you please give us a link to where Karta have 228,901 records. I looked at Karta today
and the total is 157,428. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place.
Quoting 2.6 million is a little misleading. If the intention is to get all the numbers to include
everyone, all nationalities, from 1920, do they mean all Gulag numbers including Soviet
citizens? An impossible task as key records were destroyed when USSR crumbled. Estimates
seem to concur on 30-40 million (some estimates even double that) Soviets alone. Or do they
mean that there are 2.6 million surviving Soviet records? How long will it take? It's taken
them quite a few years just to get to the 150K mark.
