My mother's maiden name was definitely Woszczak, and she was born in
Rawa Ruska. She, her mother and brother were deported from that town
to a village (whose name she cannot remember) near Aktiubinsk,
northern Kazakhstan. Perhaps your sources are not complete, or maybe
they have misspelt her name as Waszczak (as you originally stated),
Woszczyk or something else. All the documents pertaining to her
coming to New Zealand spell her name correctly as Woszczak. I hope
further research solves this mystery!
Much appreciation for your efforts,

> Zenon, I had a look at RU lists and the only two families of
Woszczak are from Dobra Wola near Pinsk and were deported to
Archangielskaja oblast. They were Antonina 1910, Boleslaw 1911, Henryk
1937, Zdzislaw 1931 and Janina 1933. It is easy to know surnames of
all deportee children and present day married names--they are in a
book of NZ.
