Well done, Julek!
Just wanted to add, especially for those who are keen to know the 'exact numbers' of the deportees. Keith Sword's book is very good on that, with the explanations of how figures he quotes were arrived at. Also Zb. Siemaszko's.
One of the most moving books is that by Zoe Zajdler, who also mentions the figures - and these were the ones worked out closest to the events themselves. Surely they must be more trustworty than the numbers Karta inexplicably sticks to, following the lead of the Russian historians?
Zoe Zajdler was Irish, married to a Pole, and witnessed Polish occupation - both under the Germans and the Soviets - first hand. Therefore, her passionate and compassionate accounts must be treated as 'objective outsiders'' views. A great read - if you find a copy...
