December 26, 2013Congratulations and Thanks to Tammy Reid for Providing the International GrassRoots Faculty Committee for Academic Freedom and Integrity for Its New Logo- Scholars from Around the World Have Been Rallying To It To Unite To Resist the Academic Boycott Movement.
Also, Congratulations to Simon Bronner, from Penn State Harrisburg who is among the leading academic figures nationally leading other faculty members to decry and defeat the academic boycotts in our colleges and Universities.People have been writing to me to ask me what they can do to resist the ongoing campaign to academically boycott Israel and threaten academic freedom on college campuses. You can do one very important thing.
Contact your Alma Mater college or university and ask them what their position is on academic boycotts. If they don't have a public statement renouncing academic boycotts (and scores of universities either have them or are currently developing and will be releasing them after the winter break), insist that they have one. Encourage other alumni to do so. Remind them that the American Association of Universities, the American Association of University Professors, 41 Nobel Laureates and scores of top universities have already done so and that academic boycotts are seen anathema to universal academic principles of academic freedom and freedom to exchange research and scholarly material for the betterment and better understanding of humankind.
Harrisburg has a long and distinguished history of supporting Israel and combating anti-Semitism in the community and the state, around the nation and around the world and we should be proud.
When you see these good folks, please thank them.Check Out the JCC Summer Camps Program for 2014
