      The Kiwanis Club of Sheffield’s Annual Radiothon is set for Friday, November 6TH from 8am until noon on radio station WSBS (860AM) in Great Barrington, MA. Veteran hosts Dick Goodwin and Dave Smith, Jr will be on the air to ask for pledges. Kiwanis members will join them to tell the listeners what Kiwanis is about and how it serves the community. Previous Radiothon have added over $5,000.00 each to the club’s scholarship funds.

      NOVEMBER 6 & 7, 2009

      The Kiwanis Club of Meriden (CT) is On The Air with “RADIO DAYS!!!” A live broadcast variety show celebrating their 58TH Kiwanis Kapers Show on November 6TH & 7TH. This is a show certainly to delight. Experience the 1940s with beloved songs and dances. Audience participation welcome! Show time starts at 7:30 at Maloney High School in Meriden. Price of tickets are $15.00 for adults and $5.00 for children. Tickets are available at the door or from a club member. Come & participate!

      There will be a LUNCH & LEARN event at the Kiwanis Club of Hampden (ME) on November 7TH from 10:30 to 2:00pm. The event is geared to Club Officers but all members are welcome to attend this CLE event. Come and train for a future leadership position. Cost of $10.00 provides lunch and a training manual. Certified Kiwanis trainers will be running the event. Please contact Lt Gov Larry Wade at <lvwade@...> or 207-827-4594.

      The Kiwanis Club of Colebrook (NH) will hold their Colebrook Kiwanis Awards & Social Night at the Canaan American Legion. Cocktail hour begins at 5:00pm and Dinner will be served at 6:00pm. Awards & sponsor recognition will follow the meal. There is no charge for the night, but a donation box will be at the door. A cash bar will be set up for us in the function room.       Toni Walker, YCPO District Chair, will be holding a CLE training for the Cape on Saturday, November 7TH from 9 - 3. Location to be announced.

      The Official Governors Visit for Division 22, 23, 24 and 25 will be held on Friday, November 13TH at Il Monticello, 577 South Broad Street, Meriden, CT. A great night is planned so come along and meet other Kiwanians from around CT. The meal is buffet and is only $30 per person. The meet and greet time with cash bar begins at 6:00PM, with a buffet dinner at 6:30PM. Please contact your respective LTG for more details and to send payment for Division 22, Motkue Bowles; Division 23, Toni Walker, Division 24 - Cynthia Perham and Nick Du Biago. If anyone has any awards they would like to be presented, please notify Motkue or Toni so they will be able to add it to the program. Rich Cheatham will also be there to present information on the First Lady’s Project, Holiday Tribute.

      The Kiwanis Club of Fairfield (CT) has begun their Annual Poinsettia Sale; their pickup dates are November 28TH and December 12TH from 8am to 11am at the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield (Across from Bob’s Store). Once again they are offering large, florist quality triple plants in 8” foil wrapped pots in red, white or pink. All plants are $25 each. To insure perfect quality, all plants are pre-sold with pickup as noted. There will be FREE DELIVERY in the Fairfield area with the purchase of 5 plants or more.

      The Kiwanis Club of Fairfield (CT) will be selling their famous hot dogs, hamburgers and bacon-egg-cheese sandwiches at the Chamber of Commerce Santa’s Visit on The Green at the Gazebo.

      The Official Governor’s Visit to Division 16 will be held on December 1ST at the Yarmouth House Restaurant in Yarmouth, MA. The Kiwanis Club of Lower Cape Cod will be the host club. Meet and greet is at 6:00pm with dinner at 6:45pm. The cost will be $40.00 per person. The meal includes: Cash Bar; Hot and Cold Hors d’oeuvres, New England Clam Chowder, choice of 12 oz Boneless Prime Rib of Beef au jus with Horse Radish or Baked Stuffed Scrod with Crabmeat Stuffing topped with Lobster Sauce, Dessert, Coffee, Tea.       Division 22 Lt Governor, Motkue Bowles, will host their first Division 22 Council Meeting on Friday, December 4TH at 7pm at his home. This informal divisional meeting will be a fun time to exchange ideas with other clubs in the division. Division 22 clubs include: West Hartford, Windsor, Meriden, Middletown, Tri-Town Golden K, Cromwell, Berlin, Southington, New Britain & Hartford.       December 5TH is the KPTI Day Open House. Registration begins at 9:30 and the event lasts from 10-3. It will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall and many hands are needed to help out. It is always a fun, heart warming experience. Imm Past President Bob Bellavance will chair this committee.

      MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR FUN: The Kiwanis Club of West Hartford (CT) will again be holding their Annual Awards Night, “STARS FOR KIDS - People lighting the Way for Children” on Friday, January 29TH. Awards will be given to people in the community who have “lit the way for children” including a fire fighter, police officer, resident and 5 high school seniors who will also each receive a scholarship. The event will be held from 6:30pm to 9:30pm at the WH Town Hall Auditorium, 50 South Main Street, West Hartford, CT. So mark your calendars, more information will be available soon.

      There will be great food and silent auction items as well as live music from the award-winning Hall Jazz Band. It’s a fun time and a great opportunity to INTERCLUB!       The Lecture Series will be combined with the Floating Hospital’s Pediatric Grand Rounds:

      traumatic brain injury and their family’s struggle to understand and cope

      Traumatic Brain Injury”.

      Their story is amazing, powerful and inspiring. All are welcome to attend.
