      Please send all announcements to <events@...> by Thursday. All new announcements will be shown in blue each week, the announcements in green are for the District or Int’l. Events, the announcements in orange are for the Key Club and the announcements in maroon are for the Aktion Clubs. 

      Effective October 4th the new hours for the District Office will be:

      Mondays: 9am-3pm
      Tuesdays: 9am-3pm
      Wednesdays: 9am-4pm
      Thursdays: 9am-4pm
      Fridays: 9am-3pm

      NOVEMBER 7, 2008

      Division 9 would like to invite you to Governor Richard England’s Official visit on Friday, November 7th. It will be held at Suzanna’s Restaurant, Exit 7 on I-89, 3472 Airport Road, Berlin, VT. Social hour will be from 6:00 to 7:00pm. Come welcome Governor Dick and his wife Jackie to Division 9. Renew acquaintances and make new ones within the New England Kiwanis Family. Bring your Key Club advisor(s) and officers to participate in the Governor’s visit. There will be informational handouts about NEK programs/services. Dinner will be at 7 and costs $22.00 per person (vegetarian meal available with an advance request). Dinner will be baked stuffed chicken breast, tossed salad, mixed vegetables, baked potato and ice cream with maple syrup. Please RSVP by November 1st.       Division 8 would like to announce their Official Governor’s Visit. Please help welcome Governor Richard England and First Lady Jackie to the Town & Country Inn, Shelburne, NH on Saturday, November 8th. The social hour will begin at 6:00pm and dinner is at 7:00pm. There will be a Cash Bar and Hors d'oeuvres, Soup, Tossed Garden Salad, Baked Stuffed Potato, Fresh Vegetables, Homemade rolls and Raspberry Crepes. RSVP by November 1st. The cost will be Roast Prime Rib for $30.00 per person; Broiled Fresh Haddock, Baked Breast of Chicken & Vegetarian for $25.00 per person. There will be a Musical Interlude by recording artist, Fiddler Patrick Ross and PLG Roland Cotnoir.

      The Kiwanis Club of Manchester & the Mountains (VT) is hosting their 3rd Annual Crafts For All Season s at the Manchester Elementary & Middle School on Memorial Avenue from 10:00am to 4:00pm. 99% of the crafters are from Vermont. All booth proceeds benefit our New Jackets For Children Drive. Come join us and get a head start on your Holiday Shopping.       The Kiwanis Club of Sheffield (MA) will hold their annual Sheffield BOWLING TOURNAMENT will be held the first three weekends in November and is open to any bowlers who either have a team or can get one together. Single bowlers will be paired with other single bowlers. Last year this event netted approximately $4,000 for the club. If you would like to bowl in this tournament, contact the Cove Bowling Lanes, 109 Stockbridge Road in Great Barrington, (413)528-1220 and ask about Kiwanis bowling.       The Official Visit by Governor Dick England to Divisions 13 & 15 will be held at Bernardo’s Restaurant, Main Street (Route 27), Hanson, MA. It begins at 12:30 until 3:00pm and will cost $25.00 per person.

      NOVEMBER 21 - 23, 2008

      FALL TRAINING Conference, the Samoset Resort in Rockport, ME, a not to be missed location. The focus of this Training Conference will be membership growth. Kiwanis Int’l President Don Canaday will be in attendance. The room rate at the Samoset Resort is only $87 per night.       Lt Gov Dayna Strout would like to announce that Division 8 will be holding a CLE Training on November 30th. It will be at the Lancaster Motor Inn, 112 Main Street, Lancaster, NH from 11:00am to 5:00ish. The trainer will be Wanda Baril. This is for all officers who need the training and any other Kiwanians who have an interest in holding an office in the future. The lunch and room charge will be $14.00 per person and free coffee will be provided. The cut off date for signing up is November 23rd.       Governor Dick England’s Official Visit to Division 14 and Division 11 will be held on Tuesday, December 2nd at the China Moon Restaurant in Stoneham, MA, at 6:30pm.

      DECEMBER 4, 2008 

      The Kiwanis Club of East Bridgewater will hold the Lighting on the Green, Town Common. This will begin at 6:30pm, there will be entertainment, food, a holiday sing-a-long; fun for the whole family!

      The Fifth Annual Tree Lighting and Santa Visit, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Greater Seekonk will be held on Thursday, December 4th at 6:00pm, at the Town Hall at 100 Peck Street, Seekonk, MA. Christmas music will be provided by the Hurley Middle School Brass Ensemble. Santa will arrive by fire truck to meet all the children. Hot chocolate and cookies will be available. DONATIONS OF NEW UNWRAPPED SOCKS WILL BE ACCEPTED AND DISTRIBUTED TO CHILDREN IN NEED THROUGH THE “CHRISTMAS IS FOR KIDS” PROGRAM. Everyone is invited to this community Holiday Event.       The Kiwanis Club of East Bridgewater will hold their Annual Christmas on the Common, “Silver Bells, a 25 year celebration.” The Christmas Parade kicks off at 11:00am. From 9:00am to 4:00pm at EBHS & Town Common will be the arts & crafts, hospitality tent, food entertainment. There will be the So. Shore Community Band, a dance, wood carver, magician, train & pony rides for the kids, raffles, giveaways & lots more! A 25 Year Tradition. Join Us!       KPTI OPEN HOUSE - On December 13th, members of the Kiwanis Family of New England and their guests will have the opportunity to visit the Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center, the home of the Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Institute. Over the course of the day, there will be speakers on pediatric trauma-related topics, updates on the activities of KPTI, tours of the trauma units in the hospital and an opportunity to network with fellow members and hospital staff. A suggested donation of $5.00 per person is asked to cover the expense of lunch that is offered.       The Kiwanis Club of Hartford (CT) would like to announce a Piano Recital by Benjamin Dix to benefit the Burns Academy of Latino Studies.       MARK YOUR CALENDARS: The Kiwanis Club of West Hartford (CT) will again be holding their Annual Awards Night, “STARS FOR KIDS - People Lighting the Way for Children.” Awards will be given to people in the community who have “lit the way for children” including a fire fighter, police officer, resident and 5 high school seniors who will also each receive a scholarship. The events will be held from 6:30pm to 9:30pm at the Town Hall Auditorium, 50 South Main Street, West Hartford, CT.  So mark your calendars, more information will be available soon. 

      There will be great food and silent auction items as well as live music from the award-winning Conard Jazz Band. It’s a fun time and a great opportunity to INTERCLUB!       traumatic brain injury and their family’s struggle to understand and cope

      “Unthinkable, A Mother’s Tragedy, Terror, and Triumph through A Child’s
      Traumatic Brain Injury”.

      Their story is amazing, powerful and inspiring. All are welcome to attend.
