Assalaamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh,

To warn against the coming of the Dajjaal is a duty on every Muslim as was such the theme of the teaching of the Prophet Muhammad (peace & blessings of Allah be upon him) and is necessary today but is generally overlooked. ‘Imraan ibn Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace & blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "From the time of the creation of Adam until the Hour begins, there will never be a bigger creation than the Dajjaal.” [Narrated by Muslim, 5239]. The fitnah/trail of the Dajjaal will be the greatest fitnah from the time Allah created Adam until the Hour begins.

There are over one hundred hadeeths mentioned in the books of Sunnah describing the Dajjal & his trails. We were warned of him because of the great falsehood he would cause. He will not claim to be a prophet, but a god (bringing the dead back to life... etc) It was written that he will have magical powers beyond imagination, and with it, will deliberately confuse matters and cover the truth with lies. He will be assisted by the Shayateen and Jinn to perform his acts.

All prophets warned their people of his coming, but the prophet Muhammad (peace & blessings of Allah be upon him) left us with an additional sign to identify him. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “No Prophet was sent but he warned his people about the one-eyed liar. He is one-eyed, but your Lord is not one-eyed, and between his eyes will be written ‘kaafir.’”  (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, no. 6598). And in another hadeeth  "..and between his eyes will be written ‘kaafir', only the one who hates his acts will see it”.

We find in Fath al-Baari by Ibn Hajar al-‘Asqallaani the following explanation for this sign: "From the apparent meaning, this writing will be real, and the fact that some will see it whilst others will not, and that illiterate people will read it, is not problematic. “This is because Allah causes people to understand something when looking at it, as He wills and when He wills. So the believer will see this with his insight, even if he is illiterate, and the kaafir will not be able to see it, even if he is literate. By the same token, the believer will see with his insight evidence that the kaafir will not see. Allah will enable the believer to understand without him being literate, because at that time, extraordinary things will be happening.”

These signs are there for us to recognize Allah's enemies, and with that sign on the forehead we imagine it couldn't be any easier. WRONG!! Considering the Dajjaal to be the greatest fitnah is not because of his greatness (if he was, he would have been able to fix his eye), but because his coming will be well planned & prepared for (by the Shaytan of course). Take an example of this well organized presentation of the dajjaal to the kids of today, the most popular Harry Potter! This mythical shaman opens the door for kids to believe in magic & all other related stuff, in addition to that he was given a kufr sign on his forehead to complete the picture (The thunderbolt is the symbol of Zeus, the Greeks supreme deity).

Please, I am not saying here that this invented character is THE DAJJAAL, but this is for you to realize the ways the Devil chooses to transmit his ideas to kids, and at an early age prepare them for a similar coming event that wouldn't be taken seriously at its time, maybe not even noticed, in spite of the 100 hadeeths & warnings.

      Was-Salaamu Alaikum.
