Possessing a maturity and self-awareness well beyond her age, Keira has caught the attention of top directors in Hollywood and Europe with her charisma and talent. Born, 26th March 1983, to actor Will Knightley and Scottish actress, author and playwright Sharman MacDonald; Keira developed a natural instinct for acting as a child, which led to steady work in film and television. Keira's first principal role was in the British television movie "A Village Affair". A year later she made her feature film debut at the age of nine in "Innocent Lies," directed by critically acclaimed French auteur Patrice Leconte. She then had the rare distinction of being one of the actors involved in the next "Star Wars" trilogy when she played the role of Sabe, Queen Amidala's handmaiden and decoy, in "Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace," directed by George Lucas (she is two years younger than Natalie Portman). Keira's other credits include the British telefilms "Royal Celebration," "Coming Home," and "Oliver," and the feature film "The Hole."

In her spare time, Keira likes swimming, soccer, body boarding, playing the flute, and listening to Eminem and Nirvana. She lives in London with her parents and her cat, Finn.
