      Hello Barbara,

This time change was to comply with a request from the Performing Arts Pavilion coordinator.  I'm not sure how set in stone it is, but I will certainly keep you posted!

Siri, is this a definite that our Pensic KWC rehearsals will be 10-noon next year?
I thought that 9-11am had been proposed for youth choirs rehearsals for Pennsic 2013 as the heat was also hard on the youth--who met for 2012 1-2pm Thur thru Monday, and then noon-1pm for Tue & Wed of the second week.
I also want to plan my meetings with Youth Officers and the Youth and Family Council around the KWC rehearsals--so that I don't miss the KWC rehearsals.
Knowing more in advance the KWC rehearsal schedule--I can schedule my meetings to not conflict with those times for 2013.
When you have definites as to Pennsic 2013 schedule -- I would love to know what it is.

Thank you, Arianna!  I am excited about this new adventure, and pleased and humbled to be a part of this organization.  The Choir has a rich tradition, something I am just learning about, and feel that I am in good hands with my esteemed colleagues.  I have large shoes to fill, following Robyn's triumph of Pennsic 41 (what size are they again?).

Indeed I am a choral educator in the mundane world, serving as the Director of Music at Detroit Country Day Junior School in a suburb north of Detroit where I teach Vocal Music, Choir, Choir Chimes, Recorder Ensemble and have an African Drum Circle.  I serve on the State Board of the Michigan Music Education Association as creator and chair of the Elementary Choral Festival, and for nine years was the Alto Section Leader of Canatata Academy Chorale.  Soon I will enjoy my eleventh year at Temple Israel as a member of the High Holy Days professional choir.

I have been selecting literature for next year, and have whittled a very long list down to around nine or ten.  You will see a variety of languages, and Cailin and I are thinking of doing Men's only and Women's only pieces (one for each).  You will be getting mp3's with professionals singing your parts, but I don't know exactly when that will be - after the New Year for sure as we're all busy until then.  In the meantime, I can post some YouTube videos to introduce some of the songs to you, the singers.

The Performing Arts coordinator has requested that our Pennsic 42 rehearsals take place in the mornings, from 10AM-12PM. This means our afternoons are free and we sing during the cooler part of the day.  More performances can be scheduled in the afternoon.  I am quite pleased with the change, knowing my fan will be used a lot less!

Greetings to the members of the Known World Choirs!

It is my pleasure to announce that the director of next year's Pennsic Choir will be Siri Toivosdotter. Those who sang with Master Robyn this Pennsic may recall her as the redhead with the beautiful, strong voice, who sang alto/second soprano. Siri hails from the Barony of Roaring Wastes (Detroit) in the Middle Kingdom, where she runs their combined vocal/instrumental group, the Roaring Wastes House Band. She is mundanely a music teacher.

Siri will be joined by her lord, Cailin mac Aindriu, also mundanely a music teacher, who will guest conduct a piece. You may remember him from this Pennsic's bass section; he also pinch-hit for Master Robyn's group on the tenor part of "Weep O Mine Eyes."

I know you will give Siri and Cailin a warm welcome and much support.

Just a reminder, if you are interested in singing with Chorulus Pennsicus, the smaller select choir, at Pennsic 42, it's not too late! Contact Mistress Arianna Morgan at chrissings@.... She'll be directing it at next Pennsic.
