"an early morning fire sunday destroys the house and livelihood of a local blues musician. 64 year old danny cox and five of his family members survived the fire.  recording artist danny cox first performed here in kansas city in 1963. he's made kansas city, kansas his home for the last 35 years. but that home and this family took a huge hit sunday morning. by the time firefighters arrived, flames had gutted the home. danny cox fathered ten children four of whom were born in this room where the fire started. of course music memories took quite a hit here too. family members salvaged only one of the dozen or so guitars that were dragged from the home. they also retrieved hundreds of cd's along with some recording equipment. but the family says....they'll get by. "my family's never been about material stuff. it's not about that. it's my family. we're just happy everybody made it." family members say a faulty space heater may have started the fire. they add that danny cox himself smelled early this morning and helped rescue the rest of the family from the fire. "

Email is currently the only thing I can access online, so I'm unable to get any updates.  If anyone knows more, please let the rest of us know how Danny and his family are doing.  Is a benefit planned?
