      Position: Technical Instructor

      Location: New York, NY


      Deliver training suitable for Opsware Server Automation Software users (customers, partners, and internal personnel). The candidate will be responsible for:

      -Delivering training - deliver training to different types of audiences (internal and customer (i.e., end users, implementation partners, sales engineers). Ability to speak to technically talented and non-technical audiences. Training delivery formats include instructor-led training (lecture), lab, web-based, and video. Must have ability to set up demonstrations.
      -Developing and maintaining curriculum - ability to conduct needs assessments and develop resulting curriculum, for both simple and complex training material; recommend appropriate delivery mechanism based upon audience requirements and strategy.
      -Configuring and maintaining training lab environment consisting of an extremely wide variety of network equipment from multiple vendors (firewalls, routers, switches, load balancers, etc.
      -Designing Lab exercises to showcase product functionality and to enhance the learning experience

      This position requires a substantial amount of travel (65%), both domestically and internationally, often on very short notice. Flexibility required for minimal notice travel plans required to support the business.


      Strong technical background in large scale system administration
      System administration and debugging experience on at least two of the following platforms: Solaris, Linux, AIX, HP-UX, BSD, and Windows.
      Excellent presentation, customer-facing, and interpersonal skills
      Excellent presentation development skills (samples of work required)
      Excellent command of English language, communication (written, oral)
      Enthusiasm - must have ability to generate excitement for Opsware and its products

      Education & Experience
      BA or BS degree (in communications or technical)
      3+ years of System Administration Experience
      1+ years as trainer or equivalent customer-facing role, where speaking in front of customers was required (i.e., sales engineer)
      Excellent command of MS-Office applications (expert on PowerPoint techniques); familiarity with web-based training methodologies
