SFPD Criticized for Fatal Shooting of Unarmed Man

San Francisco, Calif. (KCBS) -- There's new information about this week's fatal officer involved shooting near San Francisco's Lake Merced.

Two police officers shot and killed an unarmed trespassing dark attic suspect in a Tuesday night.
(Shouldn't they know by now that Asa was NOT trespassing? Do journalists ever read the paper?)

According to today's San Francisco Chronicle, the roommate of the man killed told the officers that 25-year-old Asa Sullivan did NOT have a gun.

And roommate Jason Martin tells the paper the two officers "panicked" shortly before shooting Sullivan at their Villas Parkmerced townhouse.

However, police say Sullivan refused the officers' commands after he climbed into the attic, saying he did not want to return to jail.

And, when they confronted him, he pointed a "an object" at them, which the officers thought was a gun:

It turned out to be an eyeglass case.
