      For the first time ever, Shakespeare's masterpiece of dislocation, Richard
      II, will be performed in Palestinian Arabic as part of the world-renowned
      Globe to Globe Festival at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre.

      The dynamic Palestinian company, Ashtar, will present a dazzling and
      accessible production directed by the acclaimed Irish director, Connall
      Morrison.



      ASHTAR theatre from Ramallah will be performing Shakespeare's political
      play Richard II in London this Month. The play is performed in Arabic for
      all audiences and is a performance on dictators, regime fall and love

      stutters, igniting a roar of laughter from the audience too familiar with
      similar jibes aimed at Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Yemen's Ali
      Abdullah Saleh



      "We were amazed how deeply the play delves into the psychology of people
      and this moment in history," said actress and producer Iman Aoun.

      "It's as if people and politicians don't learn. ...and it makes us realise
      how much the play resembles the present," she said.

      Globe to Globe - For the first time, 37 international companies present all
      37 of Shakespeare's plays in 37 different languages in a kaleidoscopic, six
      week festival at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, London, starting on
      Shakespeare's birthday.
