Well, this past Saturday I went to 2 grave markings up North. One
was for Sgt. William Abbott and the other for his father, James
Abbott. It was an early and long day. First, we were supposed to be at
the Horse Meadow Cemetary in Haverhill, NH, but the directions from
MapQuest were alittle off and Mr. Jackson and I ended up in Vermont.
We Finally foud the place back in NH. The ceremony was held even
though it was raining. Then almost every one there crowded into a
local McDonalds for some hot coffee. One woman asked if we were in a
play (At least it's better than being asked if we were Amish, I
guess.) Then the SAR guys and I went over to Newbury, VT for the
second marking, and it was yet again raining :( I must say, except for
the weather and having a slight cold, the day was completely worth it.
I met more of the SAR guys and their wives. Also, there were a few
people from Georgia, including a descendent of the Abbotts. Mr.
Kendall Abbott and his wife, Cindy, I must say, they were some of the
nicest people I have ever met.
