      Matisyahu & Festival of Light
Is anyone surprised or disappointed that Matisyahu did not choose any Jewish opening acts for his Festival of Lights concerts in Manhattan and Williamsburg, December 10 to December 20?

Here are the bands he’s performing with during his eight nights: Glitch Mob, John Brown’s Body, Dub Trio, Brothers Past, Rana, Kid Koala, Travis McCoy, Kevin Devine.

Those are reggae/rock/hip-hop acts. Is anyone surprised or disappointed that he has no Jewish performers opening for him?

Matisyahu is just a commercial performer who uses his Chassidic identity as a hook to attract audiences. Enjoy his music or don’t, find meaning in it or don’t  – everyone has different tastes – but don’t look up to him as an example of anything or bother to judge anything that he does or doesn’t do.
