Gujarat- Biggest Dams/ Canals But No Food Production?

      Friends,

Is it not scandalous that Gujarat invested say Rs.50,000 crores in recent past on biggest dams and biggest canals has created almost no new food storage capacity?

I posted message about nonsense of Sripad Dharmadikari and Himanshu Thukkar about Bhakra Dam but some specialized group, out of rivalry and inferiority complex did not allow it on their groups.

I have been all along emphasizing the objective of big dam builders is not to boost food production etc but to waste public money and ensure perpetual poverty in India.

At a recent lunch meeting, a noted Gandhian was not at all convinced that Sardar Sarovar Dam & Canal and so many other big dams contribute little to food production in Gujarat. Figures in red for Gujarat indicates it has very negligible food productions that need food storage though has some of the biggest dams and canals in the world.

Gujarat has planned to increase storage of food grains by just 1.32 lakh tones compared to 25.33 lakh tones for Punjab that has no new canal built for 30 years and 60% of its water is wasted in Rajasthan and Haryana who release it in desert and water logged districts that need huge drains respectively.

And you can very well imagine mere 13.2 crore kg of new capacity being created is just 3 kg per capita in Gujarat. This capacity would have been required due to natural growth due to introduction of better seeds.

I also told her that absolute mediocre leaders right up to the very top govern India.

There is rampant loot going on in the name of river link and big canals.
