It is true that food, housing and clothing are essential for a man's survival whether it be in the villages or the towns.  However, for obtaining food, housing and clothing, one has to find work and earn money. For finding work these days, education has also become important and being healthy is very necessary. So, there is a need for education facilities, medicare and sanitation in the villages also which is largely missing at present.

First of all, let us take education.  Government has opened so many schools in the villages but these schools are without adequate facilities.  There is acute shortage of teachers as teachers are not willing to work in villages.  This is due to lack of rural infrastructure like roads linking the villages to the nearby cities, road transport, electricity, etc. For the same reasons, the students sometimes find it impossible to reach the schools or to study properly in the absence of electricity.

Now, let us take the case of medicare.  Government has opened so many dispensaries in the villages but these are not provided with adequate facilities.  The doctors, nurses and pharmacists are not willing to go to villages because of lack of connectivity, lack of education facilities and lack of electricity as well as sanitation.  In this case also, rural infrastructure is very essential so that more and more doctors and medical staff could go to the villages.

Same is the case with sanitation. There is acute lack of safe drinking water in the villages and sanitation staff is also reluctant to work in the villages because of lack of adequate infrastructure i.e. roads, transport and electricity. So, the primary need for sustenance of life in the villages is the setting up of rural infrastructure which would also facilitate the setting up of village level industries like food processing industries.  For this purpose, Government should approach the various world organisations, foreign Governments and NRIs for investing in the setting up of rural infrastructure.
