In re form and matter. Central in the philosophy of the early twentieth century is finding a more dynamic concept of this classical opposition, from Bergson to Whitehead to Maritain. Form and matter becomes something closer to 'structure' and 'function'; to the 'what it is' of an entity versus the 'what it does'. I use the language of 'common nature' and 'act of being', to try to frame this, but it takes a detailed discussion.

in re Being and Goodness: perhaps neither one makes sense as modern metaphysics. If Being and Goodness are fundamental intuitions, then they both rest on a twin foundation of metaphysics and phenomenology. Many disparate points of view on the perennial philosophy seem to converge at that conclusion.
