Thoughts on Washington 5, Islanders 2...
- View SourceAnyone who expected this to be an easy game after the previous one
went to ot (without Ovechkin/Zubrus) does not know the caps that
Despite Washington's record they put in a sixty minute game almost
every night and skate very well and win some games with a lot of high
goals against totals, they turnover the puck alot but in this game
Isles could not take advantage. Bodies were flying all over the ice
for both sides, and the Islanders were working hard, just could not
Snow was not the reason they lost this game, not even close.
Some of the point blank saves kept it from even being worse, was he
great? No, but the Islanders had problems with Washington's speed and
skill and they earned the win.
Islanders had their chances, Kolzig made some saves and they missed
too many shots wide and failed to click on the pp and the even
strength play looked like a problem for them as they could not create
enough quality chances and only scored on two flash-goals (Yashin to
Asham/Bouchard off a broken play) unlike recent games where it
I did not like Shaw's lines or his not using a fourth line that
looked hungry and was creating some chances.
First the official (Mick McGoogh?) got in the way which almost
created a goal for Washington and then when the Islanders did win the
faceoff in the final second of the second, it hit the officials skate
and went right to a cap forward who found Ovechkin.
Bouchard had an awful turnover that led to a goal, Hunter saved a
goal. Too many passengers at even strength, Isles were skating in
this game but just one pass short or one play short which has been
the story of the season.
Tough loss but Tampa also lost and it really changes nothing aside
from another game off the calander which is the worst news.
Overall just another lost night in what looks like a long season, we
can keep hoping but were running out of games.
