Personally I think the lack of scoring could be seen a mile away going into the season. It is a bigger, quicker team, they have demonstrated they can play the close games they did a year ago and recovered well after that poor stretch.
So far1 Yep, I agree with this and wrote about it before the season. I not only thought the team was gonna be offensively weak, but as a defensive component, they were bound to crumble in comparison to what they defensively achieved last year. Lots of younger guys, especially on the blueline.
They are missing what Hamilton and other vets gave them a year ago and that group was hardly an offensive powerhouse.
You said it! It's absolutely amazing what Hamilton achieved with this team last year!
It's still early and the Phantoms were in the same spot a year ago and won the division but unfortunately it looks like the Tigers are going to be in a fight to even qualify for the playoffs this year.
Yep, but this is good and healthy for those kids. They need lots of "challenge" this year. The playoffs are possible, but it can't be expected that a team that gets MUCH younger, less proven offensively AND defensively, and faces a league that has added roughly 100 new topflight prospects & already-established young NHLers can possibly keep up with the incredible success the team has had in its first 3 years.
That said, I think they're having EXACTLY the type of season I had hoped for.
They're doing alright!
