Richmond Strong Mayor Bid Advances
Jun 11, 2003
An effort to let Richmonders elect their mayor picked up steam today
when one its champions filed papers in Circuit Court to get the issue
on the November ballot.
Paul Goldman, an assistant to the City Charter Commission, submitted
the ballot language to the court clerk's office for review.
City residents would elect a mayor to a four-year term under the
proposal. That mayor would have the power to appoint a chief
administrative officer subject to the advice and consent of a majority
of City Council members.
