      Dear Minnesota IRV supporters,

The League of Women Voters Minnesota just published an information study
report to its members on alternative voting systems.

      The report is available online:
      http://www.lwvmn.org/LWVMNAlternativeVotingStudyReport.pdf LWVMN Facts and
Issues Report on Alternative Voting Systems

A press release on the study is at:
      http://www.lwvmn.org/PressRelease20041007VotingSystems.asp Alternative
Voting Systems: Facts and Issues: New League of Women Voters of Minnesota
      Study

The report is limited to single-winner elections and includes consideration
for : Plurality, Approval, Borda, Condorcet, and IRV.

      Another page references the study:
      http://www.lwvmn.org/Voter200406.asp#Consensus Committee extends deadline
      for consensus on voting systems
      *********
The deadline for consensus on the Voting Systems study has been extended
from December 1, 2004 to February 1, 2005. Study materials are still on
schedule to be mailed out to members in September.
The study committee, recognizing that local leagues will have their hands
full this fall with the presidential election, decided that it would be more
realistic to extend the due date by two months to allow more time for study
and consensus. The committee plans to present its report to the Board at
their meeting on February 19, 2005.

      Sincerely,
      Tom Ruen
