      Philadelphia Area OVBS Begins on Thu, August 1, 2013

      Orthodox Vacation Bible School (OVBS) organized under the auspices of the six Orthodox parishes in Philadelphia is being held from Thursday, August 1 through Saturday, August 3, 2013. The theme for this year�s OVBS is �Humble yourself before the Lord, and He will exalt you.� James 4:10. Around 250 students from the six local parishes have registered for this three-day gathering of Sunday School children. Guest students are welcome to attend this event.

      Venue: St. St. Thomas Indian Orthodox Church, 1009 Unruh Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19111
      Daily Schedule: 9 am to 4 pm

      Activities during the OVBS include lessons based on the theme, devotional addresses, song sessions, arts and crafts, puppet show, games and charity fundraising. This year, the third day is scheduled as a �Carnival Day� with the afternoon set aside for a lot of games and fun events for children.

      The reverend clergy, around 40 teachers and several volunteers from different parishes are working under the leadership of Dr. Shaji Abraham, Mrs. Suja Sabu (Coordinators) and Mr. Mathew Samuel (Area Coordinator) for the smooth functioning of the event.
