GUJARAT EARTH QUAKE RELIEF WORK

It will be interesting for the members to know that orthodox church has
decided to go ahead with the relief work in Gujarat. It has decided to
collect Rs. 2 Crores, a part of which will be used to rebuild the church in
bhuj which was completely destroyed.
After his successful work in Orissa where he built over 200 houses in a
record time of 13 months, within the budgeted amount, Very Rev. K.I.Philip
Ramban will be the person in charge at the site. He will be guided by
H.G.Osthathios metropolitan and H.G. Geevarghese Mar Coorilos Episcopa of
Bombay Diocese. This will be the first project being undertaken by the newly
formed Orthodox Church Relief Organisation, which is under formation to take
up such works. This organisation headquartered in Mavelikara with the
corporate office in Bombay will eventually have branches in all the states.
The work will start in about 6 month's time. But the ground work for the
project has already started and Rambachen will go to Bhuj during beginning
During his visit to Bhuj during beginning of this month Rambachen had met
the officials at Bhuj who had shown keen interest. He had been commenting
that the T.V. or the News papers do not give the true extent of the damage
which is quite masive. people lost everything in a few seconds, many of them
their lives also.
There has been some comments that due to the attacks on christians in
gujarat we should keep away. But as Rambachen puts it , it is the best way
to show the christian compassion, that the christians are there where
