"French Revolution" is the title of beautiful pastel painting of
Marie Antoinette, Louis XVI, with the guillotine in the background.
It was done by Gene Szaftran and offered on ebay for $300.00
minimum. This is out of my price range but if it is within yours
it's a lovely original work.

The painting is based on Kucharski's unfinished 1791 painting of
Marie Antoinette. Iw as said to be unfinished because of the flight
to Varennes - yet some have called it the finest image of the Queen.
The painting of Louis seems based on the last image of the king the
painting by Preur 4 days before death.

Below is more information on the artist and painting from the ebay
posting. Gene Szaftran was born in Detroit Michigan in 1941 , then
became a noted illustrator for magazines including "Playboy " , "
Cosmopolitan", " Penthouse " and Bantam Books . he studied and later
taught at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. He then moved to
Connecticut as a freelance artist and worked as illustrator out of
NewYork City . He has personal interest of photography and Sculpture
that he often incorporates into his illustrations , recently he has
struggled with multiple sclerosis. The Pastel Paining is one his
illustration mated with that beautiful cream color and framed with
the allegra antique silver color frame that matches the subject of
the illustration the magnificent framed artwork is at the size of
17.5" X 26"
