      An Urgent Prayer Request
      From UFMCC's Global Outreach
      The Rev. Judy Dahl, Director

      UFMCC Minister Attacked In Nicaragua;
Hospitalized In Critical Condition In Intensive Care

      May 8, 2001

      Dear MCC Friend:

The Rev. Mario Guiterrez, pastor of ICM Paz y Alegria (Peace and Joy) in
Managua, Nicaragua, has been hospitalized in critical condition in an
Intensive Care Unit following an attack on Monday, May 7.

Rev. Guiterrez was leaving a shop in Managua when a man approached and
demanded money. Guiterrez was hit in the head with a rock; others joined in
the attack on him. He was unable to speak when admitted to the hospital last
night. Some ability to communicate had returned this morning.

UFMCC's Global Outreach is wiring funds today to perform an MRI and the
doctors will determine treatment options following the procedure.

We urgently ask for your prayers on behalf of Rev. Guiterrez, as well as for
his congregation during this time. The Rev. Dr Armando Sanchez, co-pastor,
      is
coordinating efforts with UFMCC Headquarters and members of the congregation
are holding a round-the-clock prayer vigil at the hospital.

Also, Rev. Guiterrez is without health insurance; financial gifts from
churches or individuals are welcome and will assist with his further medical
      treatment.

Please forward this information to your friends and encourage their prayers.

      In Christ,

      (The Rev.) Judy Dahl
      UFMCC Director of Global Outreach
