      Dear Subscribers:

I hope this note finds you all fine and unhurried.

After giving the matter a long thought in July and after calling
some of you three weeks ago, I have decided to give up
maintaining and moderating this group list.

I hope that someone from this group is interested in taking over
the moderation of this list and would greatly appreciate it if you
let me know by August 15. I had asked a couple of you
to see whether I can delete my (this yahoo) address from the yahoo
group list and have someone else's address as the moderator,
but unfortunately did not hear from you.  It seems that I can not
delete my address unless I delete the whole webpage with
all of our group correspondence and information, which is really
      of big concern to me.

      Please advise.  I appreciate it.

To ensure that you all receive this message, I will resend it from
      my gmail address.

Wishing You All the Best in the Summer,
      Wafaa' Al-Natheema

Thank you, Wafaa', for creating this group and providing those fortunate enough to be a part of it with challenging information on Iraq history, economics and culture not found anywhere else.  All of us are well aware of the time and energy you invested in providing this service and we are truly grateful. We are also cognizant of the toll it has taken on you to pursue the research necessary to keep the group going.  We all express our deep gratitude (me especially) and wish you well.

          Many thanks and fondest regards,

I can not believe it has been six years since you've started this
this list.  I applaud you, Wafaa, and thank you with all my heart.

My understanding is that you will keep maintaining the Iraq history blog,

I will call you this week.

              Dear Wafaa’

All good things come to an end.  It is regrettable but then one can only do as much as one is capable of doing given the constraint of time and other resources required for managing the group and keeping it alive.  For the latter I, as a member, failed to make an effective contribution, which is the crux for pulling the interest of members together.  It has not been an easy task for you but you have admirably and diligently carried the burden.  I thank you for your work.

While sad that the group will not continue to exist, the consolation lies, I hope, in continuing the Iraq History blog.

              Best wishes.

                Dearest Wafaa,

To start with, wish You happy times and days, in the spirits of Ramadhan

Further to that, I would like to say the following as a reply:

                1. I fully understand Your will to end the Iraq History blog
                2. No words are enough to show the appreciation You deserve for taking on Your own shoulders the whole and the heavy burden of establishing and maitainig that blog
                3. My suggestion here is that You, as much as it is feasible, try to save the highlights of the blog content on an adequate USB or the alike. Such a content will be an immensely helpful background and ignition for a new continuation of maintaing that blog. My argument here is that Your days have become more than overwhelmed by working and thinking, worrying and caring to the extent that a pause is really needed. I am quite sure that a near day will come when someone interested (not surprisingly You after a pause!) will be willing to go on

During the meantime, the blog's content will be a source of information and inspiration for others that can make use of that content, definitely after referring to the source and after seeking and being guarateed Your permission. This point needs Your acceptance, needless to say!

                My sincerest regards

                  Dear All:

Ramadhan mubarek to all those who celebrate it.

After reading Tareq's reply below, I thought clarifying
what Wafaa meant would be helpful:

                  1. Wafaa will not delete the Iraq History Blog
                  http://iraqshistory.blogspot.com   She may irregularly
post important articles on this blog.

                  2. Wafaa wants to give up moderating this group list
and remove her yahoo address from the list.  To do
this, she was told, that this whole webpage (please
along with the group list's email addresses will have
                  to be deleted.

                  3. Therefore, she is wondering if any of the saavy
                  yahoogroupers who moderate yahoogroup lists
can answer for sure whether someone else can moderate
this group list and have his/her address as the moderator.
What are the options with regard to the yahoogroup rules?

                  4. We appreciate hearing feedback from other subscribers
of this group list, especially those who have been silent for
                  long.

                  Dear Wafaa:

Thank you so much for your great work.

I am saddened because I doubt there is anyone in our
community including and especially those experts in
Iraq's history who could do the task you were undertaking.

                  1. I fully understand Your will to end the Iraq History blog
                  2. No words are enough to show the appreciation You deserve for taking on Your own shoulders the whole and the heavy burden of establishing and maitainig that blog

To do
this, she was told, that this whole webpage (please

                    to be deleted.

                    3. Therefore, she is wondering if any of the saavy
                    yahoogroupers who moderate yahoogroup lists
can answer for sure whether someone else can moderate
this group list and have his/her address as the moderator.
What are the options with regard to the yahoogroup rules?

                    4. We appreciate hearing feedback from other subscribers
of this group list, especially those who have been silent for
                    long.

I am saddened because I doubt there is anyone in our
community including and especially those experts in
Iraq's history who could do the task you were undertaking.

In my response to Wafaa’ I said that our solace lies in continuing the Iraq History blog.  I would have liked to volunteer for moderating the group but I am handicapped by illiteracy in IT operations and have two blogs to manage in addition to other commitments.  I have the additional handicap of not being completely neutral in my views.

I do hope that others will take up your invitation.

Thank you so much for your great work.

I am saddened because I doubt there is anyone in our

                      Dear Wafaa:

It is very sad for me to hear that you want to give up this history writing
project.  I greatly appreciate your efforts and first-class commitment.

I can not believe it has been six years since you've started this
this list.  I applaud you, Wafaa, and thank you with all my heart.

My understanding is that you will keep maintaining the Iraq history blog,
but if no one comes forward and moderate this list, the webpage containing
our correspondence and information exchange will go estray.  Therefore, I
hope (and will cross my fingers) that someone, who will be as committed
and responsible as you have been, will take responsibility to moderate this
                      list.

I will call you this week.

Thanks again for being so determined, professional and sincere.

                        Dear Wafaa:

I am confirming receipt of this email.

I noticed that only few of the subscribers have
confirmed receipt and made a comment or suggestion.

Please when you send your final emails to the group,
include Arabic text in the subject title and text as well
                        to make more recognizable.

My suggestion is that by the end of August (please extend the deadline) if no one comes forward to moderate
this group, remove all of our email addresses and
keep only yours.  I think this is the only way we can
keep our group's webpage intact without being removed
and without you needing to moderate.

By extending the deadline till the end of August, it
will give you time to phone other subscribers and/or
give more time to subscribers to confirm receipt of
this note and make comments or suggestions.

I know you will be very busy all through Monday, so
I will phone you after that to discuss INEAS matters.

Wishing You All the Best in Your Endeavors,

I agree with Walaa Ali and further add: I doubt that we will ever come across another person who is as committed, knowledgeable, professional and neutral as Wafaa.  On top of this, she did all her
first-class work for FREE without having a PERSONAL AGENDA.  This should not be interpreted as a criticism or discouragement for
that who wishes to moderate this yahoogroup after her, and I hope
there will be such a person.

I was never interested in history, but joined this group only because
it was a project established by Wafaa.  I admit that her intriguing
discussion and writing style made me interested in the subject matter.
                          I will definitely miss it.

Thank you Walaa for the clarification.

                          Regards.

                          Dear All:

Ramadhan mubarek to all those who celebrate it.

After reading Tareq's reply below, I thought clarifying

what Wafaa meant would be helpful:

                          1. Wafaa will not delete the Iraq History Blog

                          http://iraqshistory.blogspot.com   She may irregularly

post important articles on this blog.

                          2. Wafaa wants to give up moderating this group list

and remove her yahoo address from the list.  To do

this, she was told, that this whole webpage (please

along with the group list's email addresses will have

                          to be deleted.

                          3. Therefore, she is wondering if any of the saavy

                          yahoogroupers who moderate yahoogroup lists

can answer for sure whether someone else can moderate

this group list and have his/her address as the moderator.

What are the options with regard to the yahoogroup rules?

                          4. We appreciate hearing feedback from other subscribers

of this group list, especially those who have been silent for

                          long.

                          Dear Wafaa:

Thank you so much for your great work.

I am saddened because I doubt there is anyone in our

community including and especially those experts in

Iraq's history who could do the task you were undertaking.

Kudos, my dear and all the best to you in your other

                          projects.

                          Warmest Regards,

                          Walaa Ali

I join in commending Wafaa for her unstinting efforts and the judicious manner in which she has managed things. It is misleading to refer to her as "neutral". She is indeed "committed" and, much to her everlasting credit, DOES have a "personal agenda", an agenda highlighted by her deep care and feeling for the suffering inhabitants of this planet and moved by outrage and indignation at manifold injustices perpetrated by the violators of the sanctity of human life and the well-being of the creatures of this Earth. It is this agenda which informs her praiseworthy exertions and her creative initiatives.

Nobody is politically "neutral" and it would be wise to include well-written and scholarly items from people presenting a broad spectrum of standpoints in this blog, which should serve as a reference repository on Iraqi history. In particular, those who have been shut out by the invaders and destroyers of Iraq in the "media" (including the Internet) need to be suitably honored by their inclusion. The material should also be extended to contemporary history and cover what has happened during the ongoing occupation and devastation of Iraq. Critical reviews of books, movies, other web-sites, news outlets and other sources of accounts and information pertaining to Iraq should also find a place here. Eyewitness accounts and videos should be deposited on the site for perusal by students. educators and researchers. The principal considerations should be connected to legibility and factual credibility. Perhaps a group of some few persons can be formed to assist Wafaa in gatekeeping the site. At any rate, this is a valuable and unique resource which should be developed further and not abandoned. I am ready to help in providing, editing and reviewing materials, but my technical qualifications for messing around with the Internet disqualify me from minding the store.

Let's cooperate in helping restore and revive this important web-site, setting aside political and other differences for the purpose of doing so.

                            Dear All:

Ramadhan mubarek to all those who celebrate it.

After reading Tareq's reply below, I thought clarifying

what Wafaa meant would be helpful:

                            1. Wafaa will not delete the Iraq History Blog

                            http://iraqshistory.blogspot.com   She may irregularly

post important articles on this blog.

                            2. Wafaa wants to give up moderating this group list

and remove her yahoo address from the list.  To do

this, she was told, that this whole webpage (please

along with the group list's email addresses will have

                            to be deleted.

                            3. Therefore, she is wondering if any of the saavy

                            yahoogroupers who moderate yahoogroup lists

can answer for sure whether someone else can moderate

this group list and have his/her address as the moderator.

What are the options with regard to the yahoogroup rules?

                            4. We appreciate hearing feedback from other subscribers

of this group list, especially those who have been silent for

                            long.

                            Dear Wafaa:

Thank you so much for your great work.

I am saddened because I doubt there is anyone in our

community including and especially those experts in

Iraq's history who could do the task you were undertaking.

Kudos, my dear and all the best to you in your other

                            projects.

                            Warmest Regards,

It is very sad for me to hear that you want to give up this history writing

I can not believe it has been six years since you've started this
this list.  I applaud you, Wafaa, and thank you with all my heart.

My understanding is that you will keep maintaining the Iraq history blog,
but if no one comes forward and moderate this list, the webpage containing
our correspondence and information exchange will go estray.  Therefore, I
hope (and will cross my fingers) that someone, who will be as committed
and responsible as you have been, will take responsibility to moderate this
                            list.

I will call you this week.

Thanks again for being so determined, professional and sincere.

After giving the matter a long thought in July and after calling

some of you three weeks ago, I have decided to give up

maintaining and moderating this group list.

the moderation of this list and would greatly appreciate it if you

let me know by August 15. I had asked a couple of you

group list and have someone else's address as the moderator,

but unfortunately did not hear from you.  It seems that I can not

delete my address unless I delete the whole webpage with

all of our group correspondence and information, which is really

                            of big concern to me.

                            Please advise.  I appreciate it.

list of should's on the Iraq history blog, which will not be
removed by the way.  It will stay intact.  What will be
                              removed is the yahoogroup list.

You are also right about the fact that no one is politically
neutral. But despite Wafaa's political views, she was
successful in presenting a colorful spectrum of perspectives.
Her neutrality (in other than political subjects) lies in her
ability to purposely (by choice) not make personal gains,
and therefore even if she has an ageda, you are absolutely
right, hers is of deep care and feeling for those who
suffer.  She would make a great judge.

Contemporary history was covered until the occupation in April 2003, but Wafaa purposely chose not to cover this subject and
for two reasons, which announced about them to the group.  I'll
leave her or others to enlist them.

Wafaa needs someone saavy in yahoogroups with some
interest in and understanding of Iraq's history to moderate
this group.  She started this group and stayed professional, democratic and firm. At some era (2003-2009), Wafaa was
famous for emailing interesting inqueries to those on her list
about history and other subjects then collecting back answers
and information, which she organizes and shares with
                              hundreds worldwide.

Additionally, Wafaa did not surrender to the "experts" just
because they had PhDs or wrote books, she discussed history with them painstakingly and even when did not know enough about the subject, she raised intelligent questions.
She even took a courageous step by criticizing their inconsistency and/or errors. One vivid example is this 2006 e-newsletter; the third subject about the Last Jews of Baghdad and her letter writing series with Nissim Rejwan.  It is a must read by those who haven't read it: http://iraqshistory.blogspot.com/2006/01/kings-presidents-last-jews-in-baghdad.html

This is a drop of an ocean of what she has done only for
the subject of Iraq's history, nevermind the other
and many oceans she has produced in other areas.

See how she engages others in the discussion:

By the way, this is one of the reasons why some Iraqi men
subscribers (young and old) gave her a hard time in the first
three years of this group's history. They did not appreciate and could not swallow her stamina, energy, knowledge, sharpness
                              and devotion.

Thank you Walaa for the clarification.

                              Dear All:

After reading Tareq's reply below, I thought clarifying

what Wafaa meant would be helpful:

                              1. Wafaa will not delete the Iraq History Blog

                              http://iraqshistory.blogspot.com   She may irregularly

post important articles on this blog.

                              2. Wafaa wants to give up moderating this group list

and remove her yahoo address from the list.  To do

this, she was told, that this whole webpage (please

along with the group list's email addresses will have

                              to be deleted.

                              3. Therefore, she is wondering if any of the saavy

                              yahoogroupers who moderate yahoogroup lists

can answer for sure whether someone else can moderate

this group list and have his/her address as the moderator.

What are the options with regard to the yahoogroup rules?

                              4. We appreciate hearing feedback from other subscribers

of this group list, especially those who have been silent for

                              long.

                              Dear Wafaa:

Thank you so much for your great work.

I am saddened because I doubt there is anyone in our

community including and especially those experts in

Iraq's history who could do the task you were undertaking.

Kudos, my dear and all the best to you in your other

                              Dearest Wafaa,

In spite of all that has happened, Iraq still exists and history deals with past, present and future. We should be concerned with the present and the future, with history...and with Iraq. Can we set aside our political differences on this one point and recognize its validity, or is there really some compelling reason at this time why the start of the occupation should be the limiting end-point of any subject on the "History of Iraq" site? I may be overlooking something, so I call on you and others who seem to think that this is a good idea to give your reason(s) for holding this position.

It is not a question of "indulging my list of shoulds", but of operating the site in a manner to render it most useful for those seeking information as well as a variety of viewpoints, narratives and analyses. This would invariably include things which any one or more of us would not "like" or would be in vehement disagreement with, including items posted by Wafaa or even myself. Such would be a sign of good health and an indication that the site is reaching people and arousing thought and commentary.

Thank you so much ya Wafaa for all your noble efforts. I will now recede to the background until such time as I hear of the resolution of this problem: re the future shape and operation of the site. I will then participate as requested and/or when I discover that it is appropriate to do so.

Yours for the liberation of the oppressed,
                                Husayn Farag Al-Kurdi

Thank you, Husayn, for your comments and suggestions.
While I agree with your suggestions, I think in the past six
years, Wafaa was able to indulgently select most of your
list of should's on the Iraq history blog, which will not be
removed by the way.

                                Regards,
                                Umm Zannobiya

I do hope that others will take up your invitation.

what Wafaa meant would be helpful:

                                1. Wafaa will not delete the Iraq History Blog

                                http://iraqshistory.blogspot.com   She may irregularly

post important articles on this blog.

                                2. Wafaa wants to give up moderating this group list

and remove her yahoo address from the list.  To do

this, she was told, that this whole webpage (please

along with the group list's email addresses will have

                                to be deleted.

                                3. Therefore, she is wondering if any of the saavy

                                yahoogroupers who moderate yahoogroup lists

can answer for sure whether someone else can moderate

this group list and have his/her address as the moderator.

What are the options with regard to the yahoogroup rules?

                                4. We appreciate hearing feedback from other subscribers

of this group list, especially those who have been silent for

                                long.

                                Dear Wafaa:

Thank you so much for your great work.

I am saddened because I doubt there is anyone in our

community including and especially those experts in

Iraq's history who could do the task you were undertaking.

Kudos, my dear and all the best to you in your other

                                projects.

                                Warmest Regards,

                                Walaa Ali

I appreciate it.

                                my gmail address.

as I am very bored today  Being bored is also not my style,

                                  1. One of Misbah's emails and both of Husayn's emails were
in the SPAM folder!  So in case you did not receive both of

                                  2. I phoned Wafaa last night.  She was not feeling well
mentally and physically.  She seems to have had enough of
everything in life and needs a long break or just simply give
up some or all of her activities/projects.  She has been overwhelmed
and battling a variety of problems. I think my boredom
is somewhat related to my phone call with Wafaa
because this woman did not know and did not believe in the
impossible, and never gave up no matter what.

                                  3. I think instead of going back and forth with emails discussing
a fact acknowledged hopefully by all of us, which is that Wafaa has
been great, let us find a way to solve this problem for her and
free her from the responsibility of moderating this group:
Is there anybody among you, subscribers, who can moderate
this group from now on?  If not, can you recommend anyone
you know?  For those who are saavy with yahoogroup, can
you please give some feedback on whether Wafaa can
remove her address from the group list and be substituted by
                                  that of the new moderator?

                                  4. If no one comes forward by the due date, then the suggestion
made by May Roberts is so far the best and easiest to do, which
is to remove everybody's email address and end this whole
                                  becoming-tiring operation for Wafaa.

                                  5. Wafaa agreed to extend the deadline till August 22 (one additional
week from the earlier deadline).  Today is August 13, so we
have nearly ten days to do something about it.

PLEASE HELP IN ANYWAY YOU, IRAQIS, CAN for the
sake of Iraq, its people and history, which has been maliciously
distorted.  The new moderator can include the subject matter
of Iraq's occupation since April 2003. I am sure Husayn
is not the only one in this group who would like for this subject
matter to be discussed and researched.

                                  Regards,

                                  2. Wafaa wants to give up moderating this group list

                                  Dearest Wafaa,

Thank you for your email and suggestions to Wafaa'.  Equally I want to thank
Walaa' Ali for clarifying the matter of the history blog and group website on
behalf of Wafaa' as she is indeed not feeling well when I called her this morning

I appreciate you emailing your note with Jawad's email reply below
it.  Had you not done this I wouldn't have known of the email, I
                                    never received it!!!

I will send few short emails today to the group to make them easily read
for those lazy or those overwhelmed with emails and don't appreciate
                                    reading lengthy notes.

                                    Thanks again,

By extending the deadline till the end of August, it
will give you time to phone other subscribers and/or
give more time to subscribers to confirm receipt of
this note and make comments or suggestions.

can answer for sure whether someone else can moderate
this group list and have his/her address as the moderator.
What are the options with regard to the yahoogroup rules?

I am saddened because I doubt there is anyone in our
community including and especially those experts in
Iraq's history who could do the task you were undertaking.

Kudos, my dear and all the best to you in your other

I will call you this week.

Thanks again for being so determined, professional and sincere.

                                    With Admiration,

I appreciate it.

first-class work for FREE without having a PERSONAL AGENDA.  This should not be interpreted as a criticism or discouragement for

I was never interested in history, but joined this group only because
it was a project established by Wafaa.  I admit that her intriguing
discussion and writing style made me interested in the subject matter.
                                      I will definitely miss it.

Thank you Walaa for the clarification.

                                      Dear All:

Ramadhan mubarek to all those who celebrate it.

After reading Tareq's reply below, I thought clarifying

what Wafaa meant would be helpful:

                                      1. Wafaa will not delete the Iraq History Blog

                                      http://iraqshistory.blogspot.com   She may irregularly

post important articles on this blog.

                                      2. Wafaa wants to give up moderating this group list

and remove her yahoo address from the list.  To do

this, she was told, that this whole webpage (please

along with the group list's email addresses will have

                                      to be deleted.

                                      3. Therefore, she is wondering if any of the saavy

                                      yahoogroupers who moderate yahoogroup lists

can answer for sure whether someone else can moderate

this group list and have his/her address as the moderator.

What are the options with regard to the yahoogroup rules?

                                      4. We appreciate hearing feedback from other subscribers

of this group list, especially those who have been silent for

                                      long.

                                      Dear Wafaa:

Thank you so much for your great work.

I am saddened because I doubt there is anyone in our

community including and especially those experts in

Iraq's history who could do the task you were undertaking.

Kudos, my dear and all the best to you in your other

                                      projects.

                                      With Admiration,

Just the thought of it is exhausting:  Wafaa has been announcing since 2005
at least twice a year (in some years even more times) why she did not want to tackle
the period of Iraq's occupation since April 2003. She has given VERY SIMPLE
instructions about the content of and the language used in our emails and information
exchanges, yet she had to repeat those instructions sometimes five to six times a year!!
Even other subscribers helped in explaining these simple instructions, still it was not
enough.  Every time a new subscriber is welcomed and introduced to the groups,
she would mention these simple instructions again and again. She used to phone
so many of the subscribers (who lived abroad) to see if they've been receiving the
group's emails and encourage their feedback and participation, yet with very few
exceptions they didn't care or showed any interest.  This is one of the many reasons
                                        why Wafaa has gotten tired.

Obviously some subscribers (especially some the Iraqi men) did not read this
group's emails or read them, but were interested in teasing or challenging Wafaa
just for the fun of it or because they didn't like or disagreed with what she was
presenting.  So I fully understand and appreciate your conclusive paragraph below.
In fact I feel it is informative to name some of the early subscribers who antagonized
Wafaa or annoyed her purposely and undeservedly.  I kept their arguments and names
in a separate folder, among them were:  Ahmed BashAyan, Sermed Ashkouri,
Ayad M (in the UAE) the guy who was famous for helping or pretending to help Iraqis
get jobs, and three other subscribers

                                        Thanks again,
                                        George

Thank you, Husayn, for your comments and suggestions.
While I agree with your suggestions, I think in the past six
years, Wafaa was able to indulgently select most of your
list of should's on the Iraq history blog, which will not be
removed by the way.

                                        Regards,

I agree with Walaa Ali and further add: I doubt that we will ever come across another person who is as committed, knowledgeable, professional and neutral as Wafaa.  On top of this, she did all her
first-class work for FREE without having a PERSONAL AGENDA.  This should not be interpreted as a criticism or discouragement for

there will be such a person.

I was never interested in history, but joined this group only because
it was a project established by Wafaa.  I admit that her intriguing
discussion and writing style made me interested in the subject matter.
                                        I will definitely miss it.

Thank you Walaa for the clarification.

After reading Tareq's reply below, I thought clarifying

what Wafaa meant would be helpful:

                                        1. Wafaa will not delete the Iraq History Blog

                                        http://iraqshistory.blogspot.com   She may irregularly

post important articles on this blog.

                                        2. Wafaa wants to give up moderating this group list

and remove her yahoo address from the list.  To do

this, she was told, that this whole webpage (please

along with the group list's email addresses will have

                                        to be deleted.

                                        3. Therefore, she is wondering if any of the saavy

                                        yahoogroupers who moderate yahoogroup lists

can answer for sure whether someone else can moderate

this group list and have his/her address as the moderator.

What are the options with regard to the yahoogroup rules?

Iraq's history who could do the task you were undertaking.

Kudos, my dear and all the best to you in your other

                                        projects.

                                        With Admiration,

Zanobiya's reply. Also it seems from your note that Misbah Kamal has
sent two emails, which I did not receive eitherl!  None of the above
mentioned emails were in the junk folder!

You are absolutely right about point 3, and so today I hope that my
son-in-law will find a way to resolve this technical issue about the
yahoogroup moderator.  As soon as this technical problem is resolved,
I will unsubscribe from this group.

As for securing an Iraqi moderator for this group, it is a much harder
matter to accomplish. I think Wafaa will need lots of luck for this to
                                          be resolved..

I apologize for sending four emails thus far.

as I am very bored today  Being bored is also not my style,
so I guess today is somewhat unique

Today is August 13, so we
have nearly ten days to do something about it.

sake of Iraq, its people and history, which has been maliciously
distorted.  The new moderator can include the subject matter
of Iraq's occupation since April 2003. I am sure Husayn
is not the only one in this group who would like for this subject
matter to be discussed and researched.

I agree with Walaa Ali and further add: I doubt that we will ever come across another person who is as committed, knowledgeable, professional and neutral as Wafaa.  On top of this, she did all her

I was never interested in history, but joined this group only because
it was a project established by Wafaa.  I admit that her intriguing
discussion and writing style made me interested in the subject matter.
                                          I will definitely miss it.

Thank you Walaa for the clarification.

                                          Regards.

                                          Misbah Kamal

                                          Dear All:

Ramadhan mubarek to all those who celebrate it.

After reading Tareq's reply below, I thought clarifying

what Wafaa meant would be helpful:

                                          1. Wafaa will not delete the Iraq History Blog

                                          http://iraqshistory.blogspot.com   She may irregularly

post important articles on this blog.

                                          2. Wafaa wants to give up moderating this group list

and remove her yahoo address from the list.  To do

this, she was told, that this whole webpage (please

along with the group list's email addresses will have

                                          to be deleted.

                                          3. Therefore, she is wondering if any of the saavy

                                          yahoogroupers who moderate yahoogroup lists

can answer for sure whether someone else can moderate

this group list and have his/her address as the moderator.

What are the options with regard to the yahoogroup rules?

                                          4. We appreciate hearing feedback from other subscribers

of this group list, especially those who have been silent for

                                          long.

                                          Dear Wafaa:

Thank you so much for your great work.

I am saddened because I doubt there is anyone in our

community including and especially those experts in

Iraq's history who could do the task you were undertaking.

Kudos, my dear and all the best to you in your other

                                          With Admiration,

Cheers to you too, Richard, even if it is not your style -:):)

Thank you so much for a lovely and informative email.

I made a suggestion a couple of months ago, which was
that Iraqi youth launch a history teaching program on facebook,
but it received deaf ears. Perhaps recipients did not like that I
indireclty criticized Iraqi youth's utilizing of facebook for the
revolutions, which have deteriorated many Arab countries, and
by stating that launching a campaign to teach Iraq's history is
                                            more deserving than these revolts!

As for your last question in point 3, I was told the answer is
yes, but I wasn't told how.

I thank you also for reporting about Wafaa.  I will be calling her
                                            shorlty.

                                            Sincerely,
                                            Rita Cohen-Sharaf

                                            Cheers to all

And this very greeting is not my style.

I will adopt Wafaa's style of enlisting points and coloring
as I am very bored today  Being bored is also not my style,
so I guess today is somewhat unique

                                            1. One of Misbah's emails and both of Husayn's emails were
in the SPAM folder!  So in case you did not receive both of
Husayn's and Misbah's emails, check in the SPAM folder.

                                            Cheers again

                                            My sincerest regards

our correspondence and information exchange will go estray.  Therefore, I
hope (and will cross my fingers) that someone, who will be as committed
and responsible as you have been, will take responsibility to moderate this
                                            list.

I will call you this week.

Thanks again for being so determined, professional and sincere.

Thank you Walaa for the clarification.

                                              Dear Wafaa:

Thank you so much for your great work.

I am saddened because I doubt there is anyone in our

community including and especially those experts in

Iraq's history who could do the task you were undertaking.

Kudos, my dear and all the best to you in your other

If you’re the group owner, you must first appoint another owner before you can leave the group. This policy is enforced so that groups are not left without an owner.

To make another member the group owner:
                                                1. Go to the Members area of your group
                                                2. Click the Edit Membership link next to the member you want to promote.
                                                3. Click the Change to Owner link.

                                                Dear Wafaa:

It is very sad for me to hear that you want to give up this history writing

I can not believe it has been six years since you've started this
this list.  I applaud you, Wafaa, and thank you with all my heart.

My understanding is that you will keep maintaining the Iraq history blog,
but if no one comes forward and moderate this list, the webpage containing
our correspondence and information exchange will go estray.  Therefore, I
hope (and will cross my fingers) that someone, who will be as committed
and responsible as you have been, will take responsibility to moderate this

I will call you this week.

Thank you, Husayn, for your comments and suggestions.
While I agree with your suggestions, I think in the past six
years, Wafaa was able to indulgently select most of your

removed by the way.

I'll

                                                    Thank you,
