Group Description

This group was founded to assist AAU IDS (Industrial Design Studio) students to get the most from their modelmaking classes.

HOW TO JOIN:

PLEASE USE THE "JOIN THIS GROUP" RADIO BUTTON at the top of this HOME PAGE, to petition for membership. You must include your name and AAU STUDENT ID NUMBER to be accepted. If you are currently an AAU student or faculty member in good standing, you will then be approved by the Moderator and included in the group. NOTE: If you are not a Yahoo! Groups member, you will also have to join Yahoo! which is quick, painless, and spamless.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO FIND ON THIS SITE:

Photos, lots of technical information, material sources, messages, and announcements. All DOWNLOADABLE AND PRINTABLE.

Do you have a question related to an IDS project in Form Development or Modelmaking? Would you like to know more about proper methodology in sculpting foam or clay? Where to get the best deals on clay tools or spray guns? Would you like some fail-safe tips to help you to paint like a pro? Want to know how to fabricate plexiglas? Vacuum-form styrene? Want some great tips on moldmaking and casting urethanes or epoxy resins?

It'll all be here eventually. Paul Wilczynski, IDS 3D Manager, AAU's IDS 3D Instructors Shafiq and Mike, Dave and Tom, will all be contributing tips and techniques to this group, as well as coming on board on a regular basis to answer your questions on technical topics related to the IDS classes.

We also encourage IDS students to post their tips and techniques, and to share sources for various materials and design services which they have encountered in the course of their coursework and research.
