Twisted pair is sheilded thats what the twists are for. Metal on the RJ45 cables used with a drain wire are for ESD. I use a 17 metre cat6 solid core cable as

If I had a choice, I would use Shielded Twisted Pair (STP) rather than Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) which is the more common Cat5/Cat6 network cable. You can
