Reconstructing Lincoln Log Cabin: The Civilian Conservation Corps in Coles County

The origins of Lincoln Log Cabin and the activities of the Civilian Conservation Corps in Coles County, Illinois will be the subject of a public symposium at the Lincoln Log Cabin State Historic Site on Saturday, November 20th from 9 a.m. to 12:00 noon. The symposium is jointly sponsored by the Historical Administration Program at Eastern Illinois University and the Lincoln-Sargent Farm Foundation.

Graduate students in the History Department's M.A. in Historical Administration Program will trace the origins of the Lincoln Log Cabin site from 1929 to its public dedication in 1936, document the activities of the Civilian Conservation Corps in the reconstruction of the Lincoln cabin, and illustrate life among CCC workers and interactions with the community.

Questions from the audience at the conclusion of the presentations will be encouraged. Admission is free.
