The Illinois National Guard & Militia Historical Society (INGMHS) seeks an executive director. The Executive Director is responsible for the overall operations and fund development activities for the Society and reports directly to the President of the Board of Directors. The INGMHS is housed in Springfield , Illinois . The person works cooperatively with the Illinois National Guard staff and volunteers assigned to support operations of the Illinois State Military Museum and to assist museum staff in development and implementation of educational programs and events that increase the visibility and value of the museum collections and understanding of the historic role played of the Illinois Militia and the Illinois National Guard (ILNG).
INGMHS is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting and developing the heritage of Illinois ’ citizen-soldiers The Society actively supports and raises funds for operation of the Illinois State Military Museum at Camp Lincoln in Springfield , Illinois .
The person should have a minimum of three years in a position of responsibility for management and fundraising for a non-profit or for-profit corporation. In addition, the person must have a demonstrated record of success in organization management and fundraising. The individual must also have demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills, familiarity with social media tools and have strong working knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint and database management software to include Quickbooks.
The salary range is $50,000 to $60,000 with bonuses possible. Benefits include paid vacation leave and up to $12,000 per year to help offset healthcare and other traditional benefits costs.
