The primary objective of historical preservation is to save, restore and reuse old and historic buildings. Yet not every building can be saved. When a house cannot be saved in situ or be moved, deconstructing and salvaging architectural elements preserves something of the house and benefits restoration of other structures.
Hunter, recipient of the Elgin (IL) Mayor’s Award for Historical Preservation, will discuss architectural salvage, available salvage resources and conducting salvage operations. Learn about available salvage resources and how to organize and conduct a salvage operation.
