      Dear I-M223 Project Members,

I am happy to announce that SNP's CTS9183, CTS616 and CTS1977 are now available on the FT DNA catalog. Astrid Krahn is still working on CTS6433.

As you can see in our tree, all M223 sectors are supposed to be positive for CTS9183 and CTS616, with the exception of L1228: http://www.familytreedna.com/public/M223-Y-Clan/default.aspx?section=results . We do not yet have any confirmed results from the L701, L702 sector - though it is expected to be positive.

For the safety of our research and for ISOGG submission purposes, I would like to confirm what we have learned from Geno 2.0 results using Astrid's recently designed primers. As such, I would like to have one set of results from four of the main I-M223 branches (L1228, L1229, Z161, and M284) - we already have Geno 2.0 results, so it is not necessary to have more than one from each. L701, L702 is the only branch that requires two tests (no matter whether you are P78+ or L699, L703+). If you 'd like to volunteer for the tests, please reply tho this message stating your kit number, the branch you belong to and the test you've ordered, to avoid waste.

CTS9183, CTS616 are also recommended to those individuals who have tested negative for the five main branch SNP's, namely Holloway, Allen and Al Jaafari (kit numbers 97193, 96993, 60410 and 207547).

Finally, with regards to CTS1977, this SNP has proven relevant to the Cont2a sector of Z161. If you belong to the ContX group (1.2.2.1.0- M223>CTS616,CTS9183>Z161>L801, Z76>CTS1977), please test. We also need results from each of the various Cont2a subgroups, including the L1290+ bunch and the generic clusters (1.2.2.1.1- M223>CTS616,CTS9183>Z161>L801, Z76>CTS6433*). If your group tests negative for CTS1977, you'll be asked to test CTS6433 in the near future.

To order the recommended SNP's, follow these steps:
1- Log into your FT DNA account
2- Click on "Order an upgrade" (upper right corner)
3- Click on "Order advanced tests" (note: not "Order advanced SNP tests")
4- Select SNP in the dropdown menu
5- Type the SNP name in the box
6- Add to your basket, place your order

As you know, I don't like to guess SNP statuses, as guessing and science are two very different things.

      Thank you for your support.
      Let's keep furthering our knowledge.

                  Thank you, Pat

I've sent you a private message letting you know that CTS616 is the correct test for you, not CTS1977. I hope there is time for you to change your order before it is processed today.

We still need two L701, L702 (Cont3a or Cont3a-XX) persons to test CTS9183 and CTS616. The placement of these two SNP's is vital to our I-M223 tree.

                  Thanks,
                  Aaron Torres

Thank you, Jan and Leo. Right now, we really need volunteers to test CTS9183, CTS616 (one from each branch of I-M223, as explained in my original message).

                      Thank you, Jan and Leo.

Right now, we really need volunteers to test CTS9183, CTS616 (one from each branch of I-M223, as explained in my original message).

Testing of CTS1977 also needs to be more widespread within our group.

                      Thanks,

                          Aaron,

                          As a L701/L702 --> L699/L703 --> L704  I believe I meet one of your needs.

Will my Geno 2.0 results meet these requirements or should I explicitly test for these two markers via FTDNA?

                          Cheers;

                          E!

                          Thank you, Jan and Leo.

Right now, we really need volunteers to test CTS9183, CTS616 (one from each branch of I-M223, as explained in my original message).

Testing of CTS1977 also needs to be more widespread within our group.

                          Thanks,
                          Aaron Torres

I’d verify whether Geno 2 covers specific ones or not. Geno 2 leaves out some strange ones, like M284. Dora From: sallfertorr Sent: Wednesday, January 23,

                              Hello, Eric

Geno 2.0 should cover these SNP's. So there is no need to test them twice.

                              Thanks,
                              Aaron Torres

Geno 2.0 does theoretically cover these sites, as this was how we learned about these SNP's.

The question is whether they will be properly read, or whether there will be no calls, which have become more common.

                                Thanks,

                                  Hello, Doug

                                  Thanks for your response!

Eric Wilson is already taking the Geno 2.0 test, so I thought it would be good to share the burden a bit. A P78 member has been the first from the L701, L702 group to test CTS9183 and CTS616. Results are pending.

We need a second volunteer from the L701, L702 sector to test CTS9183 and CTS616.

                                  Thank you,
                                  Aaron

                                  Aaron,

Harold Perry kit 201343 has ordered these.  We are at 111 markers, too.  Happy to help.

                                  Best regards,

What you need to also do is DOWNLOAD your zipped csv data file, save it to your computer, do not select open. When you have it saved, email the zipped file to me, not the list. I'll then open it extract the Y-DNA SNPs and send them to Aaron and Ken so we can compare them with the results for other Roots members and see if any new SNPs show up. The Download button is right above the Transfer to FTDNA button.
