      Hello, all

05/03/2012 - Another WTY participant kit# 199243 (Gunning, Isles Sc) had his results scored today by Astrid Krahn at FT DNA. Coverage was of 418,587 base pairs but unfortunately no new SNP's have been discovered. This exam did cover the sites for the L1193 and L1194 SNP's, for which this participant was negative. That means all Isles English individuals should be testing for L1193 and L1194, as these SNP's are specific to the Isles English subgroup. No news yet on L1195. The exam also covered the site for Z76, and Gunning is negative for it as well. This reinforces the theory by 1,000 Genome Project volunteers that Z76 is phyloequivalent to L801 or maybe slightly upstream from it.

05/04/2012 - WTY participant kit# 83425 (Wilson, I2b1-XX) is currently having his results scored. Coverage was of 423,487 base pairs of and one new SNP has been revealed so far: L1226. We have yet to determine if recent WTY participants had coverage of this site, in order to learn whether this is an I2b1-XX-specific SNP.

Next in line are kit# 48274 (Griffin, Roots Group 2a) and kit# E5922 (Hofstee, I2b1-X).

      Thanks,

Hello, all The site for L1226 (15973761) was covered in the following WTY s, so these individuals can be presumed negative for it: 31781 (Games, Cont2c) 69631

          Hello, all

The site for L1226 (15973761) was covered in the following WTY's, so these individuals can be presumed negative for it:

          31781 (Games, Cont2c)
          69631 (Rasey, Cont2a)
          150778 (Mendes da Silva, Roots Group 1a/446 = 8, 438 = 8)
          113655 (Gibbon, IslesSc Group 1)

Other WTY participants from the same sub-haplogroups as the participants above would consequentially be negative for L1226 as well. This seems to limit L1226 to I2b1-XX (status unknown for I2b1-X and Cont3a).

          Thanks,
          Aaron Torres

            Hello, Jim

You belong to the Isles English subgroup of M223. So you should test for L1193, L1194 and L1195.

To order the recommended SNP's ($29 each), follow these steps:
1- Log into your FT DNA account
2- Click on "Order an upgrade" (upper right corner)
3- Click on "Order advanced tests" (note: not "Order advanced SNP tests")
4- Select SNP in the dropdown menu
5- Type the SNP name in the box
6- Add to your basket, place your order

            Thanks,
            Aaron Torres
