      Scott,

The Babbitt, Babbit, Bobbitt are all connected. They appear to be CTS1977+ but no one has tested for this SNP.

Gamez is not part of the 1719 clade. He looks L1228 but as you can see looks may not be everything. His 12 markers are:
      14 22 15 10 xx-xx 11 13 11 14 12 30
      Olivera N60328 in ungrouped is:

I think you will see the difficulty is predicting which group someone should be placed in if they have not tested for recommended SNPs or expanded markers beyond 12 markers. Of course some will end up placed in wrong grouping. This is what you and I and others are tying to sort out. It does require the cooperation of the member.

Wayne, Please compare Babbitt (208967) to Babbitt (226784) and Babbitt (159077).  Maybe Gamez is X1719/YCA=17-19 like Middlemiss (B1538), Holloway (97193), Holloway (96993), and Allen (60410).  If that’s the case, you’d have discovered X1719/YCA=17-19 Iberian clade and the L1228 Iberian clade within just a few weeks of each other.  I was thinking about P78 also turning up all L484+ and L1443+ up to now and had two thoughts from what Dr. Nordtvedt said about P78 and had two thoughts in case Gonzalez turns out not to be P78+ and Bill turns out to be L1443+ and that is that P78 apparently originated around the Czech Republic-Slovakia region a long time ago.  It seems as if we wanted to look for P78+ who wouldn’t be L484 or L1443, we’d test people who list their earliest known ancestor around the Czech Republic-Slovakia region and around the Mode.  Weliver/Wooliver is pretty close to the mode and is L1443+, so it would be testing others close to the mode.  However, we now also have people who have tested P78+ who are close to the MIN and the MAX for P78, so a couple of them might be good too.  Please let us know your thoughts?  Thanks, Scott

Scott, I have not sent emails to some of the people that may live in Brazil or have Portuguese or Spanish backgrounds from the Project. I will be looking to Aaron to make contact with some of these as he administers other Projects they belong to.

      More later.

Wayne, Thank you for all of your work on this.  I’m looking forward to the results for Garcia and Fanoy because they’re very close to the P78 MAX and, if they’re P78+, it’d be good to ask them to test L484 and L1443.  It’s interesting that McDonald (B1563) is testing L1443 because he’s listed in M284.  It looks like the L703 Cont3a-XX and L704 Cont3a-XX1 have picked up some momentum with the Perrys, Watkins, and Wilsons and are sorting L700, L1226, and L704 out on their own now without me and I can focus on P78.  It’s interesting that Chumley (199579) is testing L1228 because he’s listed in Z161.  Looking forward to the L1228 for Gonzalez, Munoz, and Rego.  Please compare Gamez (283776) to Cotton (173537).  As we were discussing whether Olivera (N60328) may be L1228, please also consider whether Torres (N108722) also may be L1228.  Then the questions would be whether Rowe (N110507), Barber (N79555), Williams (N56553), Perez-Ferreiro (80810), Wharton (6017), Costa (N82427), Pastrana (N85372), etc. are L1228, L1229, or otherwise.  Please don’t hesitate to let me know if there’s anything that I can do.  Thanks again for all your help, Scott

Wayne, My thoughts, corresponding to your thoughts below, are:

      1) L484 & L1443.  We're still waiting on L1443 results for our friend Bill Ballough (103295) and P78 and L1228 results for Gonzalez (155821).  Bill could be L1443- or Gonzalez could be P78.  I haven't heard Aaron or a single Co-Administrator accept my hypothesis that L1443 is phyloequivalent to P78 and L484, so my understanding is that we'll select more people to ask to test L1443 and/or L484 if Bill turns out to be L1443+ and Gonzalez isn't P78, but you want the results to come in for Bill and Gonzalez before we do that and that won't be until next month at the earliest.  Knowing that L1443 is phyloequivalent is better than not knowing about it, so I've been quite satisfied with our L1443 testing.

      2) L1228.  My understanding is that we're waiting for the P78 and L1228 results for Gonzalez (155821) before asking Pike (194314), Olivera (N60328), Costa (220257), or Munoz (247485) to test L1228.  Please let us know your thoughts regarding asking Pike (194314) to test L1228 and, if he doesn't respond, asking Olivera to test L1228?

      3) L700, L703, L704, PF6896, PF6902 & L1226.  My understanding is that we're waiting for the L704 and L1226 results for Watkins and the PF6896 and PF6902 results for Dawes (95786) and Perry before asking anyone to test these SNPs and that won't be until next month at the earliest.  The last time that I checked, FTDNA still didn't have PF6899 up for individual orders.

Please don't hesitate to let me know if there's anything that I can do.  As always, thanks for all of your help with the Project, Scott

Scott, Weliver and Alshammari have both come back as L1443+. It is looking more like L1443 is another phyloequivalent SNP to P78. Very disappointing.

As for Olivera and Pike you listed below, I cannot make a call one way or the other on them both. They will need to test one, if negative, then test the other.

Wayne, Please let me know your thoughts on moving Olivera (N60328) up next to Pike (194314) in P78 with the question being whether Olivera (N60328) and Pike (194314) belong in P78 or L1228?  Thanks, Scott
