- Exactly. The maxi term goes back to the early 80s, when they started to call
the first 12"s to "Maxi Singles". They had usually 2-3 tracks (a remix
usually called 'Extended 12" mix', and probably the B side) where the 7" had
the single version and the B side.
When they ported the format to CD in the mid 80s, those were called CD-Maxi
