      Dear Giovanni
      I suppose Edward means by pole of a pair of circles, a circle of null radius
      in the bundle of circles they define.
      So two non secant circles have a pair of poles.
      I draw the sketch and it works, I don't know why for the moment. I have
      still to think about it!
