In Hunterdon County, New Jersey, ARES® and RACES are separate. While members have the option of becoming members of only ARES, membership in both organizations is encouraged.

ARES® was created by the ARRL not the Federal Government, as RACES was. This allows us to act independently of County and Municipal OEMs. ARES® has the ability to activate as an emergency situation arises..... We don't have to wait until a 'Declaration of Emergency' like RACES does !

We provide emergency communications to the Hunterdon Chapter of American Red Cross and the Salvation Army.

Hunterdon county is part of the ARRL NNJ section.

To see what information we have, click on "Files" from the menu on the left and choose the folder "ARES"
