At the age of three, Belle and her family homesteaded to Arizona where her father raised and sold horses to the Calvary at Fort Huachuca. She married Fred Voss in 1949 and resided in the same home for 58 years until her death.

While in Reno, Belle was a Red Cross volunteer at the Reno Veteran's Hospital for 35 years and was recognized for her dedicated service, receiving numerous awards during her service.
