Spring into pasture management -- what better time to start planning for the
upcoming grazing season than February when we are all "chomping at the bit"
      to get outside!

Concerned about “lush” pastures or overweight horses? Is carbohydrate
intolerance an issue in your barn? Ready to improve your pasture
productivity? Or get rid of toxic weeds? Join us to learn about weaving
horse health and pasture management together!

WORKSHOP: Spring into Pasture Management & Equine Nutrition with Alayne
Blickle from Horses for Clean Water and feeds expert Harris Statema, from
      LMF Feeds.

      In this workshop you will:
Ø Learn basic techniques for good pasture management including, how
grasses grow, creating a winter paddock, liming, spreading compost,
rotational grazing, weed control, fencing option & small farm equipment.
Ø Get information on the horse’s digestive system and understanding
      forage and nutrition.
Ø Find out what constitutes a “lush” pasture.
Ø Learn about carbohydrate intolerance in horses and how sugar levels
in your hay or pasture affect your horse’s health.
Ø Feeding to avoid obesity and safer grazing options.
Ø See how to use a hay probe and learn how a nutritional analysis can
save you money (& improve horse health!)
Ø Hear how you can borrow (for free!) the KCD hay probe to take
      samples of your hay.
Ø Meet resource staff from the King Conservation District who can
suggest options for pasture management problems, soil testing, liming &
      more.
Ø Discover how you can manage horses and grazing so your horse doesn’t
      become fat!

Start the grazing season out right by learning how you can make your
pastures become more productive and your horses healthier!
