      Ø Are you new to horse ownership or do you have children who want a
      horse?

      Ø Do you know what the regular health, dental and shoeing needs are for
      horses?

      Ø Would you like to learn about shelters requirements and horse-safe
      fencing?

      Ø Would you like to tour a facility set up for safe and efficient
      horse-keeping?



      Join Alayne Blickle and her horses on her demonstration farm for an all-day
      workshop geared for novice horse owners or for those new to keeping horses
      on their own property.



      Depending on participants’ needs topics may include:

      Ø Understanding horse behavior

      Ø Horse and handler safety

      Ø Planning your horse facility

      Ø Considerations for buying your first horse

      Ø Costs for owning a horse

      Ø Nutrition and feeding

      Ø Vet and farrier care

      Ø Taking vital signs & emergency preparedness

      Ø Pasture, manure and mud management.



      Workshop goal: To introduce participants to the components of good horse
      management and the resources and professionals available to you as a horse
      owner.



      Cost: $125/person for registration before January 20th, $175 for late
      registration. Agency staff $75/person.



      Materials provided: Horses for Clean Water educational handouts & other
      handouts on topics covered as well as a certificate of course completion.
      Hot drinks & light refreshments will be provided.



      Bring: a sack lunch. Hot drinks & light refreshments will be provided.



      Dress: warmly & wear hard-soled shoes as parts of the day will be held
      outside & with horses.
