This is a list for those of us who love “The Honeymooners”, one of the best remembered highlights of TV’s golden age. Starring Jackie Gleason and Art Carney, along with Audrey Meadows and Joyce Randolph, the Classic 39 will go down in history as one of the best television comedies ever. Practically anyone who has ever sat down in front of a TV set has seen a bit of the saga of Ralph and Alice Kramden, the not-so-newlyweds living in a rundown apartment in Brooklyn. Even though the surroundings seemed a bit grimy and spartan, quite unlike the happy middle-class homes of most TV situation comedies, still, there was always Ralph – blustery, ambitious, constantly searching for the one great moneymaking scheme that would make him rich, all the while with a heart of gold. And, too, with his always willing to help best friend, Ed Norton, a veritable fountain of cheer and encouragement. Although their schemes never worked out, usually causing friction between Ralph and the more practical Alice, at the end of the show, it was always Ralph, letting her know once again, “Baby… you’re the greatest.”
