Howdy Cuzzins and Welcome!
There weren't any like Homer and Jethro - they were truly originals. Accomplished musicians with no apologies for their trademark "corny" humor.
Far too few remember them anymore, and so it is our happy task to spread their music and memory through friendly conversations, trading copies of their long out-of-print albums, and turning others onto their music. Founded in November of 2003, we remain a small but sincere "family".
Lifelong friends from Knoxville, Tennessee, Henry "Homer" Haynes and Kenneth "Jethro" Burns recorded countless 78 rpm records, many 45 rpm singles (How many exactly, Cuzzin' Bing?) and 22 original albums.
Most will recall their "Battle of Kookamonga", "How Much Is That Hound-Dog In the Window", their appearances on "The Johnny Cash Show" or their Kellogg's cornflakes TV commercials, though they were very much more than these things.
After Homer's passing in 1970, and subsequently re-teaching himself mandolin, Jethro eventually began to perform and record again. Jethro left us in 1988.
If you are interested in discovering their myriad songs, their musical talent, their corny humor and warm hearts, and want to help preserve their legacy for future generations, join our group.
(You also might like to know that Homer's son Trent Haynes is a member of our group, as well as Jethro's daughter Terry Burns. Feel free to ask them questions, they'll help however they can.
I'm more than happy to help you hunt for your own original H&J vinyl, and how to get you CD copies of their out-of-print albums.
