      Dear All

I've received this request from Prof F. Hale at the University of
Stellenbosch in South Africa. Any suggestions I could forward to him?

      Apologies for cross-posting.

      Thanks and best wishes

      Sarah C

<< May I take the liberty of asking whether you could give me the
names (and possibly the institutional affiliations) of some of the
most prominent theoreticians (since Lukacs) of historical fiction? I
would be most interested in reading their principal works. And who
knows? Perhaps I will have opportunities to correspond with and meet
some of these scholars to discuss overlapping interests. As one who
earned doctorates in English, history, and ethics, I presumably look
at certain issues from a point of view which differs significantly
from those of most of my colleagues hither and yon.>>

... I ... meet ... look ... I think the Prof might do well to put historical novel theory into a good search engine (such as Google (http://www.google.com/)

I think the Prof might do well to put 'historical novel theory' into
a good search engine (such as Google (http://www.google.com/) and see
what he comes up with. As a qualified librarian I would always
recommend trying the web first-off for this sort of thing,
particularly as most universities are on line now, and often list the
        specialisms of their staff.

I would be interested to hear to hear about any discussions that
might arise from the Prof's search!
