Group Description

Devoted to genealogical research regarding the various descendants and associated families of Edward Hart (abt. 1610-1665).

Edward was a landowner in Providence Rhode Island in 1638. Later, as Town Clerk of Flushing, New York he wrote the Flushing Remonstrance on December 27, 1657. The Flushing Remonstrance has been referred to as the "Origin of Religious Freedom in America". A "Religious Freedom" postage stamp was issued in 1957 to commemorate its 300th anniversary.

Anyone who is interested in this line may join. A Membership List with Contact Information, Lineage and Biographies is available to facilitate contact between related individuals. Submittal of Lineage and Biograhical information is encouraged. Many of our members have hundreds of individuals on their family tree.
