Dear Home School Parents,
Please share the following announcements with all interested home school parents:
HOME SCHOOL MONDAYS 2014
Program offerings and the reservation request form for Home School Mondays 2014 is now available online. The programs will again be held on Monday afternoons from January through May. One Monday per month, each child may attend (2) one-hour, back-to-back science or math programs. Over the course of the spring semester, each child will attend a total of 10 programs. The two programs for the younger students (Grades K-3) will be held at the same time as the two programs for the older students (Grades 4-8). Different programs will be offered each year with a 3-year rotation cycle.
Reservation request forms with pre-payment ($30 per student) must be mailed or delivered to the RPSEC by Monday, December 2, 2013 at 5:00 PM. Reservations are first come, first served, and we may fill up before the deadline. A final schedule with dates and participant lists will be e-mailed to parents by December 16, 2013. HOME SCHOOL HIGH SCHOOL ECOLOGY COURSE
The deadline is approaching to register for the new fall High School Field Ecology course at the RPSEC! This fall-semester course is the equivalent of a 1/2-credit highschool lab science course, and will focus on Ecology of Central and CoastalSouth Carolina. The deadline for payment is 8/5/13 and classes will begin 8/21/13. There will also be a 1/2-credit spring semester course that will focus on the Ecology of the Piedmont & Southern Appalachians. The deposit for the spring 2014 course is due by 9/30/13. Each semester will consist of over 90 hours of exciting hands-on instruction at the Ruth Patrick Science Education Center (RPSEC) and inspiring outdoor field experiences. The fall and spring sessions may be taken independently or together.
Classes will begin at the RPSEC; many will be held from 1-5 pm on Mondays, but day trips and a few overnight trips will be required. The $800 Fall Semester Field Ecology fee includes course costs, travel, overnight accommodations and food during overnight stays. Dr. Gary J.
